Thursday October 31st 2024:
Workshop with Letícia Stallone (IMMART)
KH7 Artspace
Sydhavnsgade 7, 8000 Aarhus
UKK and Aarhus Billedkunstcenter are happy to invite you to ‘What If Diversity Was Not An Issue?’ - an afternoon at KH7 artspace in Aarhus where diversity (in the Danish art sector) will be addressed through performative workshops and collective meal.
What If… Diversity Was Not An Issue? is initiated and hosted by UKK’s Diversity Working Group in collaboration with Aarhus Billedkunstcenter, Immart and KH7 artspace.
Join us on an afternoon where advocacy, activism, empowerment, arts and delicacies will be on the menu.
Diversity has become a buzzword as of late. Accordingly and regardless of the reasons or contexts it emerged from, organisations, institutions, unions and the likes, people in general have had to address the substantive as well as the matter it relates to.
The bottom line and our point of departure for the upcoming event is that all of the participants and other people involved might have a definition and / or an understanding of what diversity is. This fact gives us an opportunity to share and confront our individual understanding of what this word means and conveys as opposed to using it in an assertive manner. Based on the above we aim to create a space which favours a discursive approach to the matter toward reflections about dilemmas and problematics related to the lack of diversity, misrepresentation and colonial heritage. The event is designed to give each person an opportunity to reflect upon it from their social location, examine interactions within and between broader systems of privilege and oppression; and reflect on how their social location does affect their approaches to education, research, and artistic practice.
Taking imagination as a tool is also a way to add an ounce of playfulness and warmth to an event, which otherwise will zoom in on a critical, societal aspect.
The workshop will be carried out by Letícia Stallone from IMMART at KH7 artspace, Sydhavnsgade 7 in Aarhus on October 31st.
This event is free of admission – sign up is required at info@ukk.community latest on Oct 28th.
This event is part of the project Diversity Commons which is made possible through a generous grant from BIKUBENFONDEN.
