Event with M.I.S., EIW and Samara Sallam
Ungdomshuset Odense
Nørregade 60, 5000 Odense
Join us at Ungdomshuset Odense for the next installment of Quick Sand, Slow Steps, an event series that challenges traditional ways of learning, sharing, and collaborating within the arts. Inspired by the notion that escaping quicksand requires deliberate, patient movement, our series aims to create thoughtful, inclusive spaces for exploration and dialogue.
At this event, we are thrilled to host insightful talks by the interdisciplinary research group M.I.S. and a platform for interdisciplinary artistic practice EIW (Experimental Institute Washed), along with an engaging exercise prepared by visual artist and writer Samara Sallam. Each session will delve into key themes of failure, accessibility, and rethinking institutional practices in art and education.
This event is part of the project Diversity Commons which is made possible through a generous grant from BIKUBENFONDEN.
M.I.S. – Where are we now: A collaborative discussion on archiving collective research, exploring dilemmas, and inviting participants to reflect on “the archive” as both a method and a concept.
EIW – New institutionalism and failure in artistic institutes: EIW will discuss their critical research into dominant art institutions, examining systematic failures and introducing alternative models for sustainable and collaborative artistic practices.
Samara Sallam – A school in the making: Drawing on her project of establishing a school addressing psychological alienation in art education. Her exercise will guide participants in imagining new educational spaces and approaches.
